I, Nixon ~ A Staged Reading of an Original Play

The Ridgefield Theater Barn is proud to present a staged reading of the original play I, Nixon, by Stanley Kutler, January 30th at 7:30pm.  This will be the world premiere of Kutler’s play, the author who also wrote Abuse of Power: The New Nixon Tapes, a book that resulted from his successful law suit against the National Archives and Nixon, to force the release of the long-suppressed tapes.

Directed by David Bass and produced by Marla Manning, the play depicts the meteoric rise of “the man from nowhere” to the American presidency, to his equally spectacular, even more dramatic, downfall. It reveals a man constantly at odds with himself, who allows his hate to consume him and bring his career to an inglorious ending. Nixon’s conflicts and hates fueled his drive for power, and they eventually unraveled his authority. In the end, Nixon delivers his own epitaph: those that hate you don’t win unless you hate them.

There will be a brief talk-back following the reading with the author, director and cast.

Admission is free and no reservations are required.  Seating is theater style and light refreshments will be served.  For more information please visit www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org
