Sean Wilkinson scored four goals as the Tigers rolled to a 7-0 victory over Wilton in the fourth annual game at the Winter Garden Arena. Wilkinson had a natural hat trick - three straight goals - for the second-ranked Tigers, who improved to 14-1 following their 14th consecutive victory. Ridgefield also improved to 4-0 against Wilton since the inaugural Winter Garden Cup game in 2009. The Tigers, who boast the FCIAC's second-best record, improved to 13-2 overall and 11-2 in conference play. Trumbull dropped to 7-8 and 6-7. Kurt Steidl also scored 18 points for Ridgefield while Seth von Kuhn added 14. The Tigers built a 20-12 lead after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 35-25 at the intermission. The fourth annual Winter Garden Cup, featuring the boys hockey teams from Ridgefield and Wilton, is set for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Winter Garden Arena. Ridgefield has won the three previous games, including a 4-2 victory last season. Ranked second in the state, the Tigers (13-1) again will be the favorite in this year's clash as they have won 13 straight games since a season-opening 3-0 loss to top-ranked Fairfield Prep. However, Wilton has been on a tear since opening the season at 0-7, winning six of its last seven games to improve to 6-8. The Warriors, who are coming off a solid 3-0 victory over St. Joseph on Saturday, visit Stamford on Tuesday (4:30 p.m at the Terry Conners Rink) before the showdown against the Tigers. A win over …

Jeff Racy scored 22 points as the Tigers cruised to an 81-54 victory in Norwalk to rebound from a 50-39 set to the Black Knights, their second loss in three games. Ridgefield improved to 12-2 overall and 10-2 in the FCIAC while McMahon dropped to 2-13 and 2-11. O'Regan posted a winning time of 9:40.40, beating out Staples' Henry Wynne (9:42.98) and Fairfield Warde's Harry Warnick (9:44.27) for the gold. Wynne won the 1,000 and 1,600 meters, helping the Wreckers capture the overall team for the first time since 2006. Staples ended Danbury's five-year reign as FCIAC champions. The Black Knights snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 6-7 overall and 5-6 in the FCIAC. Porky Vieira, one of the most prolific scorers in basketball history, will join Don Harrison for a joint presentation on Saturday, Feb. 4 (2-4 p.m.) at the Bridgeport Public Library, 925 Broad St.. Harrison, a contributing writer for Patch, will discuss and sign copies of his new book, Hoops in Connecticut: The Nutmeg State's Passion for Basketball.
