The Growing Tree is a great preschool. The teachers truely know the children and bring out the best in them everyday. The projects that my daughter brings home are simply inspiring. The Growing Tree really is a special place!

Founded 20 years ago, the Growing Tree is a well-established preschool that caters exclusively to 3 and 4 year olds. Admission is competitive to ensure small class sizes, limited to 14 children at a time. Each class is supervised by two teachers and a program director.
The Growing Tree has two main goals: academically, the school seeks to stimulate an interest in the world through art, music, science, literature and math activities that help young children develop cognitive and, fine and gross motor skills. The school’s other equally important goal is to foster a positive self image in each student and encourage a respect for others.

After carefully looking at every preschool in and around Ridgefield we chose The Growing Tree for our two sons. I think my son's first day summed up the entire experience for me: It was late morning of 9/11. New York City was in a panic and so was the rest of the country, including Ridgefield. The Growing Tree teachers opened their doors for their "afternoon" session around 11:30 and enveloped my son in warmth and love, despite their deep anxieties. And from every day forward they nurtured, challenged and taught both my sons valuable life and academic lessons. We have made life-long friends with the other parents and teachers. And we still have artwork and photos that come out every year during the holidays...even though my first son is about to enter high school! The Growing Tree has made a lasting impression on my family and countless others in this area and I am so grateful to be able to share this!
Both of my kids have attended (or are attending) the Growing Tree. We love it! And the teachers love my kids! It truly is like an extension of our family. My son has fond memories of his days there and my daughter asks if she can go to school everyday. We are expecting our third, and there is no other school that I would send him/her to. The teachers are dedicated, loving and fun. The programs are enriching and playful. There simply is no place like the Growing Tree!

The two reviews below hit the nail on the head. The Growing Tree is really a great preschool for all the reasons they describe. The teachers are very dedicated and the atmosphere of love and care and attention is so deep that it's almost more like an extension of your family than an outside school. The program also seems very well-balanced, with emphasis on learning, art, social skills, and fostering imagination and a sense of personal responsibility. Our daughter absolutely loved it for two years and our son will start next year.
Ann Lacerra and her professional staff make The Growing Tree an exceptional preschool! My daughter loved her time there, learning and making friends. The teachers are loving and encouraging, the programs are unique. I loved that the school is smaller than others, I knew the teachers, the other families, and it was easy to stop and ask the teachers a question. I knew from the minute I first spoke with Ann that my daughter would flourish there!
I cannot say enough positive things about the Growing Tree. From the director to the decor, this is the most amazing school. Our daughter had quite a lot of change in a very short amount of time, including the death of a close grandparent, the birth of a little sister, leaving her childcare, death of a beloved cat and then moving to a new house (and state). Our daughter had just turned 3 and was not herself after all of these life-changing events. Once she started class at the Growing Tree, she flourished. We felt like they gave us our daughter back! She was back to her old, giggly self. The teachers provide a comfortable, safe and fun environment that allow for personal growth and independence. Since our older daughter is in kindergarten now, I can also tell you that she was well-prepared for it in every way - academically and socially. I can't wait until next year when we get to start another 2 years with the Growing Tree staff with our younger daughter!!!

I chose the Growing Tree for both of my children because I found it child centered, the teachers keenly aware of age appropriate behavior and learning; they grew the whole child with compassion, respect and love; the teachers and the director were great parent mentors.
