The Museum, according to its Web site, "enjoys the curatorial independence of an alternative space while maintaining the registrarial and art-handling standards of a national institution."</p> <p>The museum's exhibitions display work by emerging and midcareer artists. It also offers various education programs to help people connect to the world through contemporary art.</p> <p>It was founded in 1964.</p>
