The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, located on the edge of downtown Ridgefield, is one of the few non-collecting contemporary art museums in the country. The Museum, according to its Web site, "enjoys the curatorial independence of an alternative space while maintaining the registrarial and art-handling standards of a national institution."

The museum's exhibitions display work by emerging and midcareer artists. It also offers various education programs to help people connect to the world through contemporary art.

It was founded in 1964.
