Weekend Planner: Ridgefield Symphony, Art Reception and Youth Orchestra Concert

Whether you're in search of something fun to do with the kids or you have a babysitter and are planning a night out, there's plenty to do in and around Ridgefield.

From a Ridgefield Symphony Concert, to the Ridgefield Guild of Artists opening reception for their new exhibit, The Women, to senior night for the high school baseball team, the Patch calendar has plenty to choose from.

Ridgefield: Document Shredding Day

When: Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: 94 Danbury Road, behind Starbuck’s in Ridgefield

Cost: $10 per standard box (paper size)

Description: The Ridgefield Lions Club, in partnership with Secure Eco Shred Inc., will host a spring cleaning shredding day for residents and businesses to bring documents for shredding. Larger boxes will cost a little more. Proceeds will benefit the local Lions Club projects.

Ridgefield: Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra Concert


When: Sunday, May 19, 4 p.m.

Where: Ridgefield High School, Ridgefield

Cost:  $15 for adults; $10 for students and seniors, available at the door on the day of the event.

Description: The concert will feature performances by the three WCYO ensembles, comprised of nearly a hundred auditioned musicians in grades five through twelve from seventeen towns in Connecticut and New York.

New Canaan: Free Pet Microchipping


When: Saturday, May 18, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Where:  New Canaan Mounted Troop, 22 Carter Street, New Canaan

Cost: Free

Description: Outreach to Pets in Need is offering free microchips with lifetime registration in HomeAgain's registry for cats and dogs, implanted by veterinarian, Dr. Kimberly MacDonald.  Microchipping is a great way to ensure the safety of your pet, and to give owners the peace of mind of knowing that lost pets will not stay lost for long.
