Ridgefield Summerfest 2014 Rewinds to 1964 This Weekend

Ridgefield is partying like it's 1964 this weekend.

This year’s Ridgefield Summerfest will be rolling back the clock 50 years to 1964 this weekend, with Ridgefield A-Go-Go in Ballard Park Friday night and a pedestrian mall in downtown Saturday.

Ridgefield Rewinds begins Friday at 5 p.m. in Ballard Park with a live music dance party, contest and blanket-drive-in movie at sunset.

The party continues Saturday at 10 a.m. (rain or shine) on the streets of downtown Ridgefield, with Bailey Ave. and a portion of Main Street cordoned off as a pedestrian mall.

In a throwback to 1964, local merchants along Main Street and Bailey Ave. are decorating like the old days. Classic cars, trucks and motorcycles (1964 or earlier) will be hanging out in the lot on Governor Street and vendors will be in ‘60s style.

The open-air market will run through 4 p.m. Saturday.

After the market closes, the Ridgefield Playhouse will be hosting a free concert starting at 7 p.m., featuring Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion. The show is free and no tickets are necessary.
