New Location for Mobile Food Truck

Announcing new location of the CT Food Bank Mobile Pantry Delivery

The CT Food Bank Mobile Pantry has been visiting Ridgefield since the end of year 2012.  With each visit, it has been meeting the needs of dozens of local residents living with food insecurity.  The truck always brings fresh produce, proteins, bread and more.  The first delivery in 2012 serviced close to 30 residents.  Now approximately a year later, the truck is serving anywhere from 100-200 households. (over 100 in January, over 200 in December)

With the increased usage came an increase in cars as well.  The popularity of the mobile food bank overwhelmed the current site located at the Halpin Court Apartments.

Announcing this month, the CT Food Bank Mobile Pantry, the Town of Ridgefield and the truck's many volunteers are joined by a new partner. St. Andrew's Lutheran Church has agreed to become the new host site of the CT Food Bank Mobile Pantry, starting this February 14th and continuing every second Friday of the month ongoing.  Ridgefield Director of Social Services says, "The church stands out as a great partner as they have a wonderful site that is central to downtown (but just off the main path) with plenty of parking and feeding the hungry fits their mission perfectly."  Phillips also notes, "We do want to also recognize that both the Halpin Court and Prospect Ridge residents and management have been very generous by allowing the truck and its recipients access to their parking lots over the last year.  Through their generosity the truck was able to help feed thousands of people over the last year.  As well there were several agencies who expressed enthusiastic interest in becoming the host site moving forward.  This community is not short on amazing people and organizations who are willing to give of themselves to help others."
