Local Artist Turns Theater Exit Sign into Lamp

Mark Furano, local artist and toy collector, created a beautiful table lamp for the Prospector Theater last summer.  This extraordinary  pull-string lamp was originally a fire alarm from 1953.  The fire alarm served it's purpose for years, on the side of the old Ridgefield Playhouse.  Now it sits in The Pop-Up Shop window, reminding all that stroll by- the beauty of looking forward.

Furano generously shared the process  of constructing the lamp with us.  He started with a rusted, faded piece of "garbage", refurbished it, re-purposed, polished, painted, and wielded it into a work of art!

This video gives an intimate look on how Furano preserved this object from the past, by giving it a purpose in the future.  An antique toy collector, Furano has restored many treasures in his home workshop, in Ridgefield CT.
