Tag Sale Time Is a Comin'-Get on Board

The fun of the hunt looking for treasures at Tag Sales is a great way to find the perfect peice to place in your home while saving money. There are a lot of goodies out there...Let's go Hunting!

I was watching a morning news show and there was a segment all about tag selling and the adventure of the find. This particular news host  and her mom took a road trip down the 127 corridor, a 690 mile long tag sale from Michigan to Alabama every Aug1-4th. Wow! Now thats a long adventure. However, for the avid tag sale hunter this is a drive through heaven.

My mom was a big influence on me to go tag sale shopping....when we were young she used to keep our heads spinning  around stopping at every tag sale. Of course my brother and I would be rolling our eyes saying...don't we have enough stuff! As I became an adult and more importantly as an interior designer I  grew to understand and love the idea of the "hunt" and, became obsessed with finding treasures.

You can find alot of accessories and furniture at tag sales, I  found a fabulous sleeper sofa(never used) and I slip covered it. That  sleeper sofa has been used for many, many a pajama party..... I have  three children, and, with slip covering it never had to worry about spills of food or drinks. When purchasing upholstered furniture make sure the "bones" of it are in good condition, then you can put any fabric on it

Another find that I just love and still have are two rattan club chairs. I found them in their original natural color but, I just had to paint them a dark green and I found a fabulous chintz..yes chintz...and covered the cushions....which is still holding up. If the finish on wood furniture isn't in great shape you can always paint it.

I was lucky enough to find  a Swedish style server in with a beautiful finish and I placed in my husband's office. He uses it for storage plus fax and in-boxes on top, it fits perfectly into a recessed wall. It has clean lines and looks great in  a commercial setting.

So if you're on a limited budget or even have money to spend there are alot of treasures out there that could fit that emplty space where you need just the right object in..

Ridgefield and the surrounding areas will be chalk full of tag sales in the next couple of months so get your sneakers on and let's go hunting.......

Home-the most important place in the world.

No money for the classrooms? A shame. Ridgefield's BOE just donated $25,000 of taxpayer money toRead More yet another artificial turf field. Gee, that works out to about $480 per classroom - exactly what the teachers have to spend out of their pockets on YOUR kids. Lesson: Money for sports? Yes. Money for the classroom. No.
