LouAnn Bloomer Is Guest Speaker for WIBO's Alumni Association Meeting

Ms. LouAnn Bloomer, President & CEO of TBICO - The Bridge to Independence and Career Opportunities - was the special guest speaker at WIBO's Alumni Association Night, in Bridgeport, CT, on July 31, 2013.

WIBO - Workshop In Business Opportunities - is a program of FSW's (Family Services Woodfield) Economic Empowerment Center. WIBO's mission is to enable small business owners and budding entrepreneurs from undeserved communities to obtain financial success by starting, operating and building successful businesses that develop economic power, provide jobs, and improve communities - developing entrepreneurs since 1966.

Ms. Bloomer founded TBICO in 1993, to fill a need for employment skills training and services that would properly prepare disadvantaged adults to compete for better-paying entry-level jobs. She spoke to the WIBO alumni and guests about her own challenges establishing a nonprofit and the many accomplishments the agency has achieved in the greater Danbury area over the past twenty years. TBICO helps individuals build their own bridge to future success, to move towards better jobs and greater career opportunities, more stable housing and more competent money management capabilities. Simply put, they come to TBICO for - Better Skills. Better Jobs. Better Lives.

Ms. Bloomer noted, "It was really energizing to have the chance to speak with such a motivated group! The WIBO program is clearly one that is valued by participants and provides value to the community. I also enjoyed meeting with everyone at FSW and hope there will be opportunities to share ideas for the future."
