Ridgefield Newcomers Open House

Newcomers Club Kicks Off Season with Annual Open House

Come help the Newcomers Club of Ridgefield kick off its 2012-2013 season!  The annual Open House will be held on Thursday, September 20th at the Ridgefield Community Center (Lounsbury House) at 316 Main Street, Ridgefield. There will be two convenient sessions:  A morning session from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and an evening session from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  This FREE event is a warm welcome back for current members after the summer break, as well as an opportunity for potential new members to learn about the exciting things the club has in store for the year.

Co-Presidents Trish Breede and Lori Goodman invite Ridgefielders to come out to this fun and relaxed event to mingle, enjoy live entertainment and refreshments, and explore the variety of great activities Newcomers offers.  “Some new activities this year include Cooking Club, Yoga, Fantasy Football and Foreign Exchange Club,” said Ms. Breede.  “We still have our perennial favorites like Playgroups, Winetasters, Book Club, Ladies’, Mens’ and Couples’ Night Out, Ladies’ Lunch, Empty Nesters, Mens’ Poker, Golf, Bunco, and more.”

There will be performances at both sessions, and children are most welcome. “Judy of the Enchanted Garden will be hosting a music class at the morning session, so let the kids enjoy while you chat with other Newcomers!” said Ms. Goodman. “The evening session will feature delicious cocktails and a special guest musician, award-winning singer/songwriter Elza Libhart of Ridgefield.  The Open House is a great way to meet some new friends, catch up with people you already know, and learn about the great activities we offer,” added Ms. Goodman.  “Feel free to bring a friend or your new neighbor!”  The event is free and there is no registration required.

The Newcomers Club is a non-profit group that has been welcoming new residents to Ridgefield since 1967 and provides year-round activities for families, singles, couples, and children. The Club is open to residents of Ridgefield who are new to the community, or who have recently had a life-changing event such as a new baby, marriage or change in job status.  For more information, visit www.ridgefieldnewcomers.org.
