JEN NELSON, SCOTLAND SCHOOL TEACHER, WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

     Jennifer Nelson is the RISE (Ridgefield Intensive Special Education) teacher at Scotland School. She has been selected by the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education Alumni Society to receive their award as the Outstanding Early Career Professional for 2014. Ms. Nelson has been teaching in the Ridgefield Public Schools for four years. She taught at Barlow Mountain School during her first year and has been teaching at Scotland School for the past three years.

     The Neag Alumni Society selected Ms. Nelson based on her outstanding contributions to the educational profession and to the Ridgefield community. The Neag Alumni Society indicated that Ms. Nelson’s professional excellence, which has made her a role model for her colleagues, is the basis for her selection from among a very prestigious cohort of nominees.

     The award will be presented to Ms. Nelson at the 16th Annual Neag School of Education Alumni Society Awards Dinner to be held on Saturday, March 22nd in the Rome Ballroom. Ms. Nelson will be honored that evening along with other notable alumni who are award recipients in other categories. Ms. Nelson’s category is the Outstanding Early Career Professional for 2014.

     Ms. Nelson is extremely happy to have been selected for this prestigious award. The Neag School of Education has indicated that this award is both well deserved and memorable. This is indeed an exceptional accomplishment.
