SES Gala Rakes in $46,000

The annual event raised money to enrich school offerings.

There was a record turnout this year at the Scotland Elementary School fundraising gala, which took place on April 9 at the Lounsbury House.

More than 150 people attended, including both parents and teachers from the school. The event raised more than $46,000, all of which will return directly to the school in projects to be determined by the PTA, the principal and the teachers at SES.

The gala was a great event and was a true collaboration between local businesses, the school and the PTA. More than 100 items generously donated by local businesses or parents were included either in a silent or live auction.

The live auction was overseen by Ira Joe Fisher, television broadcaster, journalist, poet and Ridgefield resident, and it was the highlight of the night. There were some amazing prizes, including a trip to London, a Vermont getaway, birthday party packages, $200 worth of vouchers to "Dine around Ridgefield," tickets to see the Yankees, summer camp vouchers kindly donated by Ridgefield Academy and golf rounds at Silver Springs Country Club.

The SES Gala Committee, which  ran the event, consisted of seven parent volunteers who generously donated their time, energy and ideas to make the gala such a fun and successful evening.

Thanks is also due to Chef Marc Cicchiello, Val Cooke at the Lounsbury House, Events Party Planning, Liberta's Spirit Shoppe for providing the alcoholic drinks, Coca Cola for providing the soft drinks and SES music teacher Jim Tornatore for organizing the music.

The success of this fundraising gala was an amazing achievement—particularly in such difficult economic times—and it shows the commitment and pride that Scotland parents have in their children's school.

Sally Alexandroff, of the Scotland Elementary PTA, has two children currently attending the school.
