The New Canaan girls basketball team received a scare Tuesday night from a Ridgefield team that is better than its record might indicate.
Kelly Armstrong scored a season-high 23 points as the Rams rallied in the final minutes to defeat the Tigers 59-54 on the road.
New Canaan, which was coming off a 62-56 loss to Staples, improved to 8-4 while Ridgefield dropped to 4-7.
Sarah Mannelly added 21 points for the Rams, who rallied from a 35-23 deficit at halftime.
Emily Favorite paced Ridgefield with 20 points and Gemma Howard added nine points for the Tigers, who snapped a four-game losing streak with a 75-12 drubbing of Bassick on Friday.

Dana Cerone and Katie Curnan each scored two goals to lead the Ridgefield girls hockey team to a 7-3 victory over the Trumbull-Staples Co-op.
Lucy Wemyss and Caitlin DeBartolo also had goals for the Tigers, who improved to 9-3.
Nina Danforth tallied twice and Kaly Goniki once for Trumbull-Staples, which dropped to 3-7.
Maggie Philbin made 14 saves for Ridgefield and Casey Bang stopped 27 for Trumbull-Staples.
Ridgefield jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, then extended its advantage to 6-1 after two periods.
