Ridgefield Public Schools Appoints New Tech Director

Craig Tunks has been named as the new Director of Technology and Operations Development at Ridgefield Public Schools.

 

Superintendent Deborah Low has appointed Craig Tunks as the new Director of Technology and Operations Development, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

"Mr. Craig Tunks has the knowledge, skills, experience, district-perspective, and energy to be successful as Director of Technology and Operations Development," Low wrote in the statement. "I hope you will join me in welcoming him to Ridgefield."

Tunks graduated from the State University of New York, Oneonta with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as a Masters of Arts in Computer Science along with graduate credits in Education Administration from Long Island University. He is now in the process of completing a doctoral degree in Computer Science at Pace University.

Tunks held the title of Director of Technology for the West New York Board of Education for three years before moving to the Monroe Public Schools in 2004 as a Director of Technology. His work there included the installation of an advisory board for program curriculum, maintaining dialogue with the Board of Education regarding infrastructure and utilization, creating lesson plans emphasizing technology, and facilitating incorporation of distance learning.

He then went on to amalgamate the information technology (IT) department for the town, schools, and police department in 2010 and took on the role of Director of Operations, Technology, and Performance Management.

Superintendent of Weston Public Schools, Dr. Colleen Palmer, Assistant Superintendent of Monroe Public Schools, John Battista, as well as Jim Agostine, the current Monroe Superintendent, all praised Mr. Tunks’ educational innovations, relationships across the district, and his leadership abilities.

Craig Tunks will begin working for Ridgefield Public Schools in August.
