In Photos: Post-Grad Party

Following graduation, the Recreation Center is transformed into an all-night celebration.

Ridgefield High School's class of 2010 was already lined up outside the Recreation Center before the post-graduation party began at 10 p.m. on Friday night.

The volunteer staff awaiting them inside was comprised mostly of parents, but that did not stop more than 90 percent of the class from following their commencement ceremony at the all-night celebration.

Every detail of the event was well planned. The grads, upon entering, checked their bags and were given bracelets which would be removed upon leaving, meaning they could not re-enter the building. Students were escorted to their cars when they dropped off party favors and prizes.

As Kathy Berger, mother of the senior class president Collin Berger, put it, "These kids are under my roof, just as safe as they would be at my house."

Throughout the night, the Rec Center pool was available, and there were college-suited raffles, with prizes like comforter sets, laptops and printers. Winners were announced at the party's close at 4:30 a.m., and winners had to be present to claim their prizes. There was also karaoke, table games and moon bounce-type inflatables in the gym.

Kohl's volunteer program generously donated its time and provided a grant for the festivities. In total, there were more than 160 volunteers and 70 sponsors.
