The Art of Therapy: Keeping healthy!

Art of Therapy Seminar – Orthopedic recovery after surgery or traumatic injury can be challenging for anyone, especially as our bodies age.  Susan Laub, a physical therapist with Laurel Ridge, will talk about the science behind the art of therapy at Founders Hall on Friday, June 29, at 10:30am.  She will discuss how to keep our bodies fit and healthy and how to avoid injuries, especially during the active summer months.  She will also talk about when rehab is necessary and purpose it serves in order to improve mobility, decrease pain and improve strength, balance and endurance.  You will learn about the stages of bone healing, risk factors, and phases of recovery.   Complications can arise due to chronic diseases, the effects of diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure and other health conditions if not managed during the rehabilitation stay.  These and other challenges in older patients will be discussed, as well as appropriate strategies to manage the recovery process.   This program is free and open to the public, refreshments available.  Please RSVP at Founders Hall for this event as space is limited at 203-431-7000.
