The Aging Brain "Lunch & Learn" Lecture at Laurel Ridge

With memory loss being one of the most common complaints of aging, Laurel Ridge Health Care Center and Maplewood Communities have come together to present “The Aging Brain and the Progression of Dementia” program on Wednesday, July 27th, 12pm, at Laurel Ridge, 642 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.  The guest speaker will be Dr. Stephen Peters, Chief of Neuropsychological Services at Associated Neurologists, who will discuss the physiology and progression of various dementias, including Alzheimer’s disease, and coping with new stresses & emotions associated with memory loss.  You will have a better understanding after the lecture of the disease process, its effects on the brain, and discover options and alternatives available to you.  As the Baby Boomer generation grows older, their brains require more time to remember, and their ability to concentrate typically diminishes. This seemingly unavoidable reality of aging presents an opportunity to those concerned about memory loss to learn more about clinically effective treatment options for those suffering with cognitive dysfunction and memory impairment.

Dr. Peters is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology and a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and Minnesota School of Professional Psychology.  He performed his post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Hartford Hospital and has been on Chief of staff with Associated Neurology since 1999.  His professional affiliations include National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society and the American Academy of Neurology.

Laurel Ridge is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center that specializes in comprehensive care for a wide range of sub-acute medical, surgical conditions, including memory care.  Maplewood Communities is an assisted living and memory care residence with multiple locations in Fairfield County offering professional care to those who need extra help with daily activities, including memory impairment.
