National Memory Screening Day at Laurel Ridge

Free Memory Screening at Laurel Ridge, Tues., Nov. 15th, 11am – 2pm by appointment only, Laurel Ridge Healthcare Center, 642 Danbury Rd, Ridgefield, CT.  Sponsored by Alzheimer’s Foundation, Free, open to the public.  To schedule, call 438-8226.

This event is part of the annual National Memory Screening Day sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Foundations of America. Laurel Ridge will have a nurse and social worker available for questions.  Early detection is important in promoting overall cognitive wellness and an initial memory screening can uncover concerns about memory problems.  Many people go undiagnosed and do not recognize the significance of early cognitive symptoms, such as difficulty completing mental tasks, confusion about time or place, and mood swings associated with forgetfulness.   Proper diagnosis is important since there are numerous causes of memory problems.  Memory screenings are a significant first step toward finding out if a person may have a memory problem, therefore, early detection through memory screening tests are critical.  This year, Laurel Ridge has been selected to be part of a pilot program due to its long relationship with the Foundation and its participation rate. The private screening takes about 15 minutes and will assess basic memory and other cognitive functioning.  The memory screening are open to the public and refreshments will be available.

For more information or to schedule your individual memory screening appointment, call Laurel Ridge at 203-438-8226.
