Fire Departments Face Off for Charity

Ridgefield Fire Department will take on their counterparts from Danbury during a charity hockey game.

The public is invited to watch members of the Ridgefield Fire Department take on their counterparts from Danbury during a charity hockey game at the Wintergarden Ice Arena on Sunday, April 7, at 4 p.m.

While admission to the family-friendly event is free, a donation of $5 per person is suggested. Raffle tickets will be sold for a half-time drawing of prizes donated by local businesses. All door and raffle proceeds will go to the United Way’s Sandy Hook School Support Fund, which provides services to those directly affected by the Dec. 14, 2012 shootings in Newtown.

The fundraiser was organized in the wake of the tragedy by Ridgefield professional firefighters Kevin Woessner and Ed Marchitto, who often play hockey with several of their colleagues before work.
