Visions for Vacancies: 66 Danbury Road

This is a storefront in a popular shopping center in Ridgefield. What shop would you like to see open here?

It's not a giant like Schlumberger or the former Ridgefield High School. It's a storefront in a shopping center at 66 Danbury Road. What is Ridgefield missing? What boutique should fill this vacancy?

Let's call this a twist on urban planning — Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

In this series we present a new vacant building or space and ask you to tell us its best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts most people to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

This 2,500-square-foot space is in the same strip mall as Parma Market & Bakery, a favorite lunch spot, the UPS Store, Ridgefield Family Hair Care and Budhi Mat Yoga, among others.

What would you like to see go in here?

A Trader Joe's would fit nicely in that spot! I doubt the company would place one so close to the Mill Plain Road store, but it would be a fantastic addition to Ridgefield and would do a great amount of business here in town. -Robert Lavelle

Hmmm - looks like rent is almost $6000 / month. Incredible. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/17956193/66-Danbury-Road-Ridgefield-CT/
