Ridgefield Reviewing Bids for 10 Schlumberger Acres

First Selectmen Rudy Marconi, the Assessor and Town Engineer are reviewing bids five firms made to buy 10 acres of land the town owns of the former Schlumberger property.

Ridgefield Mayor Rudy Marconi said the town has owned the Schlumberger land for two years, and it is not in the business of owning land. Ridgefield is finalizing a deal to sell five acres of the land to Ridgefield Developer Stephen Zemo. This second parcel of nearly 10 acres could earn the town between $1.75 million and $4 million, depending on which bid is accepted.

Marconi said the town may keep a piece of the former Schlumberger property for future town purposes and it will save a large portion of it for open space. Most of the land will be sold to pay off the original investment of  roughly $7 million.

Bids were received by Toll Brothers of Newtown, Sturges Brothers Inc., of Ridgefield, Sun Holmes of Pauling, NY, New Ridgefield Nonprofit, of Ridgefield, and Donnelly, McNamara & Gustafson, PC On Behalf of Residential Investment, LLC, Ridgefield.

According to documents posted by the Ridgefield Purchasing Dept., Toll Brothers bid $4 million, Sturges Brothers bid $2,584,000, Sun Holmes bid $3,200,000, New Ridgefield Nonprofit bid $1,750,000 and Donnelly, McNamara & Gustafson bid $2,700,000.
