Selectmen Begin Detailed Schlumberger Sale Review

The Board of Selectmen will hold a special meeting Friday with an executive session to start their review of the bids received for 10 acres of Schlumberger land Ridgefield is selling.

First Selectman Rudy Marconi said work on this sale just started. It isn't a "done deal," as people are whispering, but rather it is a complex negotiation and review. Marconi said the review starts with Toll Brothers, which made the highest bid.

"We're going to look at the deed restrictions and the final price. We're going to look at changes made to the original submission," Marconi said.

According to papers made public by the Ridgefield Purchasing Department, Toll Brothers of Newtown bid $4,000,000 for the land, and Sun Holmes of Pauling, NY, bid $3,200,000. The next bidders were Residential Investment LLC of Ridgefield for $2,700,000, and Sturges Brothers of Ridgefield for $2,584,000.

Marconi said selectmen and other town department heads will review the bids and then Ridgefield will hold a public hearing on the sale. He said that will be followed by at least a 10-day break, and after that, the public will vote on the sale.

Friday's Board of Selectmen's meeting is exclusively an executive session to discuss the sale. Marconi said there are no dates yet for either the public hearing or the vote, because the review just started.
