Register to Vote: Election Deadline in October

Potential Connecticut voters for the 2012 election have until late October to register to vote.

If you want to cast a ballot for president and any of the other elections this November, you have to register first. The deadline in Connecticut is Oct. 23 for mailed application and Oct. 30 at noon if registering in person.

Voter registration forms are available on the Secretary of State’s website. Voting is open to U.S. citizens at least 18 years old.

The registration forms must be delivered to the Registrar of Voters in the municipality you live in.

Absentee ballots can also be found on the Secretary of State’s website.

As of late 2011, there were 2.1 million people in Connecticut registered to vote.
