Hotel Proposal Allowable on Slumberger Property

Ridgefield is considering the sale of 5 acres to Ridgefield Developer Steve Zemo, who wants to build a hotel and commercial building on the site.

The plans haven't yet been submitted, but a hotel is an allowable use on the Slumberger Property Ridgefield owns downtown, said Ridgefield Director of Planning Betty Brosius.

Brosius said she doesn't have any plans or an application submitted, but she said a hotel, which would be Ridgefield's first, is a permitted use.

Ridgefield property owner and developer Steve Zemo presented a conceptual drawing to the Board of Selectmen last week, and First Selectman Rudy Marconi said the $1.25 million proposal on five acres, is being sent to the town attorneys, according to a story published in the Ridgefield Press.

Ridgefield Director of Planning Brosius said she has no application yet, but she said if one is submitted, it will go to a public hearing for a special permit. She said that will give the public time to look over the plans and make their observations and comments. She said the zone is right for a hotel.

"There's no issue about rezoning or anything," Brosius said.
