Campaign Notebook: Murphy Campaign Raises Social Issues

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut

Senate

Linda McMahon (R): A Quinnipiac University poll shows McMahon with a three-point lead in the Senate race.

Chris Murphy (D): Murphy’s campaign continues criticizing McMahon. A statement released earlier this week questioned McMahon’s stances on social issues.

"Connecticut families deserve to know: will Linda McMahon join her party and vote in favor of the anti-choice, anti-birth control leadership if she is elected to the Senate?" said Taylor Lavender, spokesperson for the Murphy campaign. “If she won't commit to voting against anti-choice, anti-woman Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell and Roy Blunt, then a vote for Linda McMahon is a vote to end a woman's right to choose and to end legal birth control."

Fourth District

Jim Himes (D) has two visits to local Rotary Clubs planned for this week. Hell be at the Ridgefield Rotary at the on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. On Friday he’s attending the Westport Sunrise Rotary at 7:30 a.m. at on Main Street. He plans to provide a legislative update and take questions from the audience.

Steve Obsitnik (R): A report in the CT Mirror details three health insurance companies planning double-digit rate hikes for small businesses in Connecticut. The insurance companies blame “Obamacare” for the increase. Obsitnik blames Himes, who voted for the Affordable Health Care Act. The article was shared on Obsitnik’s Facebook page with the message, “Jim Himes' health care law is costing CT small businesses big bucks.”
