State Police Report 297 Accidents on Fourth of July Weekend

Lt. Paul Vance, the Connecticut State Police Spokesman, reported the state saw 297 accidents on the Fourth of July weekend through 7:30 a.m. Sunday. He said that compared to 323 accidents in 2012. There were no fatal accidents reported as of the 7:30 a.m. time.

In addition, Vance reported there were 43 injuries in those accidents, and 59 people were charged with driving under the influence. Last year 45 people were charged with DUI.

Vance reporte that 2,171 people were charged with speeding on the weekend, compared to 1,059 charged last year. Another 451 people were charged with failing to wear a seatbelt.
