Ridgefield Police, Fire Deliver Baby

Ridgefield Police and the Fire Department responded to a call at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday on Revere Place that a pregnant woman was about to give birth. Ridgefield Police said when they arrived on the scene, they had no time for a trip to the hospital, and the ambulance was 15 minutes away due to the snow and ice.

Ridgefield Police said a healthy baby girl was delivered at 9:35 a.m., and when the ambulance arrived, the mother and daughter were transported to Danbury Hospital to check their conditions.

Police Officer Chris Daley and Liet. Jeff Smith, both from the police department, helped deliver the child, as did Fire Fighter Mike Drake and Fire Department Captain John Drake.
