Police Searching for 2 After Middlebury Home Invasion

It is suspected that this incident may be related to one that occurred in Easton earlier today.

 

Update, 7:46 p.m.

The girl is 12 years old and the boy is 14 years old, police said.

Middlebury and state police are on the lookout for two people suspected of invading a home on Yale Avenue just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday, startling two children and making off with some valuables.

According to Middlebury police, two children were home when two perpetrators, one male and one female, entered the residence and went up the stairs to a bedroom and kicked in the locked bedroom door. The burglars left the scene with a jewelry box and its contents, a CD player and what is believed to be a pellet gun.

The children were not injured and their exact ages are not known at this time, but they are both believed to be under the age of 11, according to Middlebury Police Lt. Richard Wildman.

The suspects have been identified as a white male in his 30s, approximately 5’4” with a very thin build, wearing a beige cap, white shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is a white female, approximately 5’8", described as tall, very thin, wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and with her brown hair tied up in a bun.

The suspects are believed to have fled in a newer white cargo van with a black logo on the upper portion of the rear of the van and a blue ladder on the roof.

Police remain at the scene collecting evidence and anyone with information is asked to contact them at 203-577-4028.

Wildman also noted that police are looking to see if there is a link between this incident and suspicious activity that occurred earlier today in Easton. More information will follow as it becomes available.
