Police: Drowned His Car

Ridgefield Police responded to a call at about 7 p.m. Sunday that someone had partially submerged their car in Rainbow Lake. Police said before they arrived, the driver of the bobbing automobile fled the scene. Police said this incident is under investigation.

In a separate, unrelated incident, Ridgefield Police were called to 91 Peaceable Street on word someone had driven off the road, hit a stone wall, and then driven away. Police said they found damage to the stone wall and to the lawn. Police said they found the driver, Lorraine Armstrong, 60, at her home on Lewis Road. Police said Armstrong failed to tell the homeowner about the accident and damage. She failed to alert the police about the accident. Police charged her with evading responsibility and with failure to drive in the proper lane. She is scheduled to answer the charges on July 15 at Danbury Superior Court.

Ridgefield Police provided this information. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.
