Pedestrian Critically Injured in Central Greenwich

Accident closes Field Point Road between Brookside and Soundview drives in Greenwich.

 

An 84-year-old man was critically injured when he was struck by a car on Field Point Road near Brookside Drive early Monday afternoon.

According to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, "a motor vehicle southbound on Field Point Road struck a pedestrian in the area of Brookside Drive" about 12:52 p.m., Oct. 1. The intersection is in front of Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Rd.

The pedestrian was only identified by his age, "was severely injured and is at St. Hospital ER  where he is in critical condition," Gray said in a voice-mail press release. The unidentified driver was not injured, Gray said.

Field Point Road between Brookside and Soundview Drives are closed as the Traffic Reconstruction Team of the police department's Traffic Section investigate, according to Gray.  "All traffic is being diverted in the area."
