Police Issue Report on Pedestrian Struck on Danbury Road

Ridgefield police issued a release Wednesday on a car versus pedestrian accident that occurred at the corner of Farmingville Road and Danbury Road on June 27.
At the accident scene, the only thing that was obvious was a car struck a pedestrian at the busy intersection near Copps Hill Plaza.

Now police said the pedestrian was taken to Danbury Hospital by ambulance. Police said the accident happened at about 2:36 p.m. The accident backed up traffic in all four directions at the intersection for about an hour while police investigated.

Police issued a written warning to Elaine Gallant, 74, the pedestrian, for not walking in a crosswalk or signaling her intent to cross the road. The driver, Patricia Mead, wasn't charged in the incident.
