Accident Near Haviland Road Sends One to Hospital

At 9:30 a.m this past Saturday, two vehicles collided while travelling on Ethan Allen Highway near Picketts Ridge, sending one passenger to the hospital for injuries, according to reports from the .

Reports state that the two vehicles were driving northbound when the first vehicle, driven by Douglas Whitman, 21 of North Bennington, Vermont, went to turn right onto Pickett’s Ridge. The driver of the second vehicle, Wilber Marin, 28, of Austin Street, Danbury, had thought Whitman was taking a left onto Haviland and began passing the vehicle on the right, crashing into the vehicle and causing “extensive” damage, reports state. Whitman’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

A passenger from Whitman’s car was subsequently transported to Danbury Hospital due to injuries.

Police issued Marin an infraction for passing on the right.
