Nuts Opens Friday at Ridgefield Theater Barn!

Nuts, a play by Tom Topor which is often cited as the best courtroom drama since Witness for the Prosecution, is directed by Sherry Asch and produced by Paulette Layton and will run from June 1-23.

The will present Nuts, a play by Tom Topor, directed by Sherry Asch and produced by Paulette Layton, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm starting June 1st and continuing through June 23rd, with Sunday matinees at 5pm June 10th and 17th.

The production brings back a couple of Theater Barn veterans, Will Jeffries (Bethel) and Louise Kaminer (Stamford), and features the Theater Barn debut of several regional actors, Julie Bell Petrak (South Salem), Phil Cutrone (Yorktown Heights),  Andrea Garmun, Marc Hartog (Westport), Siobhan McKinley (Ridgefield), Jeff Rossman (New Fairfield), and Phil Schaefer (Weston).

Set in a courtroom in New York's Bellevue Hospital, the story follows a high-priced call girl incarcerated on a charge for killing a violent "john". A court appointed psychiatrist and an aggressive prosecutor say Claudia Faith Draper is unfit to stand trial for manslaughter. As testimony from experts, physicians and her parents unfolds, Claudia's psyche and childhood are dissected, and she must prove that she isn't "nuts," but legally sane to stand trial.  The playwright used his years of experience as a journalist covering NYC police stations, courtrooms, and psychiatric hospital wards to create the play. The actual plot is based on a true incident reported in the 1970's.

Tickets for Nuts are $24 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.  Seating is cabaret style and doors open one hour prior to curtain. The audience is invited to bring food and beverage to enjoy before the performance and during intermission. The Ridgefield Theater Barn is located at 37 Halpin Lane.  For reservations visit www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org or call (203) 431-9850.
