  • Free veterinary cardiologist at Bark Park

Concerned about your dog's heart health? Visit the Ridgefield on Friday, August 19 from 3 to 7 p.m where Dr. Bulmer, a veterinary cardiologist, and a local vet will perform free dog heart screenings from inside a special mobile exam room. Other veterinarians will be available to answer questions for dog owners about heart disease. This program is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. of St. Joseph, Mo., a subsidiary of BI in Ridgefield.

  • Parent’s Night Out

Need a night out without the kids? Sign up for Parent’s Night Out on August 19 at the .  Parents can drop off their children from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Children will enjoy a fun night which will include pizza, refreshments, the bounce house, games, and swimming.  Kids can splash into fun on the pool’s slide while parents can enjoy a night out on their own. Preregistration is required by August 17th and the cost to participate is $25
per child.

  • Free Preschool Open Gym at Ridgefield Recreation Center

As a gift to all Ridgefield residents, the will waive the $100 annual fee to attend the preschool open gym. Starting on September 1, the open gym will be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Sign up at the Recreation Center.

  • Save on Back-to-School physicals

The is holding a series of Well Child Clinics throughout the year that provide low cost school, camp, or sports physicals to area residents. Visits include a physical performed by a physician or nurse practictioner as well as all school-required immunizations. Also, RVNA offers Pediatric Flu and Meningitis vaccination programs. Well child clinics will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 23 and 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. and are available by appointment only. The cost is $50 and there is a sliding scale available to those who cannot cover the cost. Call 203-438-5555 ext. 1119 to make an appointment.

  • Sketching at Weir Farm

Get inspired by nature and bring your sketch book to Weir Farm National Historic Site on Thursdays and Fridays in August from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Discover your inner artist while sketching en plein air with graphite pencils, colored pencils, or chalk pastels provided by Weir Farm National Historic Site. All ages and experience levels are encouraged to participate. Email wefa_interpretation@nps.gov or call 203-834-1896 for more information.
