Iron Jawed Angels

To celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, the Ridgefield League of Women Voters is sponsoring an October screening of Iron Jawed Angels, a 2004 American drama film. It features Hillary Swank and focuses on the American women’s suffrage movement during the 1910s. The film received acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film follows political activist Alice Paul (a former Ridgefield resident!) and Lucy Burns as they use peaceful and effective strategies to revolutionize the American feminist movement to grant women the right to vote. This film is appropriate for parents and children who are middle school age of older.
