Veronica "Ronnie" Somma died peacefully on Nov. 27 in Ridgefield

Veronica “Ronnie” Somma, age 103, of Ridgefield, peacefully passed away Nov. 27, 2013 at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, Ridgefield.

She was born in Greenwich Village, New York City. Her family moved to the Bronx, NY, where she was raised, married Vincent Nagle and became a mother to Rita Theresa and Vincent Nagle, Jr.

She was employed at Marsh & McLennan Insurance Co. as a supervisor in the billing department, retiring after 21 years and moved to Ridgefield in 1970. She served as President of the OWLS (Older, Wiser, Livelier Set) for two terms. She also belonged to the Community Center, Founders Hall and aided at the Red Cross blood drives. She moved to Ridgefield Crossings where she organized a Rosary Group.

Veronica was predeceased by her daughter Rita Theresa and son Vincent Nagle, Jr. and both husbands, Vincent Nagle and Thomas Carmine Somma.

She is survived by her grandson, Vincent Nagle III, daughter-in-law, Barbara Nagle Van Hall and William Van Hall.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT, 39 Old Ridgebury Rd., Danbury, CT 06810.

Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
