Valerie Jean Tomko, 73

Tomko was a longtime member of Christ the King Church in Ridgefield.

Valerie Jean Tomko, age 73 of Norwalk, died on Sunday, September 2, with her family at her side, at the CT Hospice in Branford after a brief illness.  

Born in Norwalk on July 20, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle Mahoney Vallerie.  Valerie was a graduate of Mother of God Academy in Stamford and has been a longtime member of Christ the King Church in Ridgefield. Her greatest joys in life were her loving family, especially her grandchildren Elizabeth, Christopher, Rachel and Mitchell Tomko.  

She also volunteered for several years for Birthright at St. Mary Church in Norwalk.     

Valerie is survived by her two sons; Michael Tomko and his wife Karen of Redding, and Paul Tomko and his wife Phyllis of E. Haven, her brothers Albert Vallerie, Jr. of FL, Edward Vallerie of VT and Raymond Vallerie of Norwalk, her sisters Joanne Vallerie of Norwalk, Mary Stanis of Bethel and Carol Straniti of Newtown, her 4 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.    

A Traditional Latin Catholic Massl will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 AM at Christ the King Church, 209 Tackora Trail, Ridgefield, 06877. Family and friends will meet at church.
