Obituary: William F. Schmitt Died Jan. 6, 2014

William F. Schmitt, 58, beloved husband of 35 years to Nancy (Pranulis) of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on Jan. 6, 2014, at Griffin Hospital, Derby. 

He was born on July 1, 1955, in New York City and was the son of William J. Schmitt of Ridgefield and the late Janet (Hurley) Schmitt. 

Mr. Schmitt worked in computer technology. Over the past few years, he was active with his children’s Scouting programs with technology support. 

Leveraging his passion for genealogy, he has spent countless hours compiling a comprehensive, extended family history. 

In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Schmitt leaves three devoted children, William J. Schmitt of Troy, N.Y., and Rebecca A. Schmitt and Harry J. Schmitt, both of Oxford; his brother, John Schmitt of New York, N.Y.; and sister, Amy McGoldrick of Garden City, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. 

His sister, Margaret Schmitt, predeceased him. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 11 at noon at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment will follow at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
