Obituary: Carol A. Cavanaugh died Nov. 2

Carol A. Cavanaugh, 75, of Stratford, formerly of Ridgefield, died on Nov. 2 in Hamden. Mrs. Cavanaugh is the widow of Anthony M. Cavanaugh.

She was born on June 23, 1938, in Newark, N.J., to the late Reuel and Helen Parke. She met her husband in Philadelphia where they were both working on a rescue squad ambulance crew. After their marriage, Mr. Cavanaugh’s career with IBM had the family living in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Orchard Park, N.Y., Ridgefield,   and Irving, Texas, before finally settling in Stratford.

After raising her family, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Connecticut State University.

Her family said she was “devoted to the care and needs of her family. She had a great affinity for the Jersey shore where she spent memorable times with her family.”

Survivors include a son, Michael Cavanaugh and his wife Meredith of New Paltz, N.Y.; son-in-law David Brown of Los Gatos, Calif.; daughter Karen Cavanaugh of New Haven; and grandsons, Camilo and Antonio Cavanaugh Lillo. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Cavanaugh.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7,  at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home and at 9 a.m. at St. James Church with a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
