Michelina “Micki” Abbate, 69, of Ridgefield

A longtime member of the Ridgefield community passed away Saturday.

 

Michelina “Micki Roth” Abbate, 69 of Ridgefield surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Danbury Hospital.

Micki was born in New York NY, December 20, 1942, a daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Perrino) Abbate. Raised in the Bronx and later Yonkers, she attended Yonkers’ schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School.


A resident of Ridgefield since 1973, Micki and her family resided in the Eight Lakes Community. She was a former employee of the Ridgefield Board of Education in their School Lunch program as well as PHH, Cendenant and currently was an administrative assistant with Curtis Black Financial Company of Danbury.

She was a founding member of the Ridgefield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a CERT team member, a member of the Women’s Club of Ridgefield and of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield where she was a Sunday school teacher.

Micki enjoyed cooking and most especially the time shared with her friends and most especially her family and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her two sons, Ret. U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph W. Roth and his wife, Tina of Yorktown, VA and Greenwich Fire Fighter Robert Roth and his wife, Tammy of Ridgefield; a brother, Ralph “Chris” Abbate and his wife, Debbie of Mahopac, NY; grandchildren, Brianne, Christopher (“CJ”), Kirstein, Madeline and Sydney; a niece, Trisha and nephews, Nick and Paul.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2 PM in the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield, 103 Main St., Ridgefield with the Rev. Dr. Charles Hambrick-Stowe, Pastor officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 5 P.M to 8 P.M.

Donations to the Ridgefield Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund, 6 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT  06877 would be appreciated.
