Juliette August, 89

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Juliette F. August, 89, of Ridgefield died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Hancock Hall, Danbury. 

Mrs. August was born in Jersey City, NJ. on March 26, 1923.  She attended Jersey City schools.  Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Connecticut. As an electronic technician, she was  formerly employed by the General Electric Company and in later years with Perkin Elmer and was associated with the building of the Space Hubble.


A Connecticut resident for the past 75 years, she was a support responder at the congregate housing in Ridgefield, a former poll worker and attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. 

She is survived by a son, Mark August and his wife, Deborah, of Bow, NH,; five daughters, Beverly Jean Hemmingway Littlejohn and her husband, James, of CO; Karen August of New Milford, CT.; Janet August and her partner, Amy Atamian, of Redding; Valerie August and her partner, Carol Alessi, of NY, NY; and Laurel Beteta and her husband, Marco, of Danbury; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Frank Sullivan.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 351 Main Street, Ridgefield, with Rev. Wendy Altopp, Rector, officiating. 

Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.
