Caroline (Carolyn) Zicker Borders died Saturday, Nov. 16

Caroline (Carolyn) Zicker Borders, formerly of Ridgefield, and of Furlong, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Christ’s Home Retirement Community in Warminster of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 85.

Born in Jersey City, NJ to Albert and Meta Zicker, she was raised in Woodcliff Lake, NJ with six brothers and a sister and later lived in Oradell, NJ and Ridgefield.

She was the wonderful wife for 62 years to Robert L. Borders and a fantastic mother to her three children and a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren and great grandson.

Caroline is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter Lynn Borders Caldwell and husband Lawrence Caldwell of Montgomery Twp, PA; son Jeffrey Borders of Exton, PA; son Craig Borders and his wife Cynthia Cobb of Ridgefield; granddaughters Teresa Borders of Tualitin, OR, and Aubrey Bettridge and husband Nicholas Husbands of Philadelphia, PA, and great grandson, Charlie Borders.

She enjoyed being a housewife and raising her children, cooking, bargain hunting, bowling, playing cards, and hosting family parties. Early in her marriage, she was employed as a secretary by Borden Food and McGraw Hill in New York City and Mittag & Volger in Park Ridge, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing 6-8 p.m. Tuesday November 19 and 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20 with a service at 10 a.m. at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, PA. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Pascack Reformed Church Cemetery, 65 Pascack Road, Park Ridge, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St, Ste 102, Philadelphia PA 19106.
