The Great New York World's Fair (1939-1940) - Presentation
Come Experience the Great New York Fair!
Opening on April 30, 1939, The New York World's Fair featured exhibits by 58 nations and 33 states as well as thousands of exhibitors and hundreds of places to eat. It was the second biggest fair in history with an estimated 44 million attendees from around the world. With the theme "Building the World of Tomorrow with the tools of today," this magnificent two-year event forged lasting memories for all who experienced it and will forever be part of New York's history. Come revisit the glory of yester-year on Tuesday, October 22, at 1 PM, with speaker Arthur N. Gottlieb, LCSW, who will bring the stories to life at Elmwood Hall, 10 Elmwood Place, Danbury. Sponsored by Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, the story of the New York World's Fair will bring you back in to a time after the Great Depression. The purpose of the Fair was to lift people's spirits and it will lift yours during the hour-long presentation. This program is open to area Seniors and the public.
