Skills for Success: What Every Parent Needs to Know About Executive Function
High
stakes testing and pressure to succeed have put the focus on WHAT kids need to
learn. Unfortunately, in the process,
kids are often robbed of the opportunities to develop the skills of HOW to
learn and HOW to use what they learn.
Executive functions are the set of neurologically-based skills
responsible for mental control and the self-regulation needed for academic
performance, social skills and life skills - they govern the HOW you do what
you DECIDE to do. This presentation
will cover how executive function skills are developed and will include tips,
tools and strategies parents can use to promote optimal success in all aspects
of life. Dr. Susan Bauerfeld, Ph.D., Licensed Clinical
Psychologist, ADHD Coach and Parenting Consultant will present.
