Ridgefield High School Spirit Week!

It’s finally here. Spirit Week is arguably one of the most exciting and eventful weeks at Ridgefield High School. Leading up to the Homecoming Dance, the week holds a variety of different events and activities that engage student participation and fun. The powder-puff football game is the kick-off to Spirit Week. Tiger Hollow has been booked for Sunday, October 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM where there’s expected be around 100 high school girls playing flag football. They will be coached by fellow senior and junior football players and refereed by teachers and faculty members of the high school. The main point of this event is to have fun and reverse the roles- typically where guys are the players; girls get to experience what it is like to work as a team and play football.

Each day of the week leading up to the homecoming game is a unique theme to help unite the student body. Monday will be “America day” where students will sport red, white, and blue attire. Tuesday is a little bit more laid back with “Pajama day”. Wednesday is “Class Spirit day”. This day is designed to unify each grade by incorporating each class color into an awesome t-shirt design. The Class of 2014 will be wearing red, the Class of 2015 will be wearing green, the Class of 2016 will be wearing purple, and the Class of 2017 will be wearing blue.  Though the Bonfire is traditionally on Thursday, this year Halloween has moved it to Wednesday night at Yanity from 7:00 PM- 8:30 PM. Food and drinks will be available thanks to the class councils and there will be a live DJ. Students will enjoy the fire and refreshments and give much appreciation to the Fire Department for allowing this event to take place. Thursday is Halloween, and that means the halls will be filled with costumes. Then, to finish off the week, Friday is Tiger Pride day where students are expected to wear their black and orange attire to show support for the football team and have school spirit. The pep rally will take place that afternoon from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM. Varsity sports teams will be presented, mini-Olympic games will take place, and the famous boys captain dance will be held and choreographed by the Dance Team.

The Homecoming football game is taking place at Tiger Hollow on that Friday, November 1st at 7:00 PM. We are expecting everyone to come show their support for the Tigers and for the town as we play Norwalk. The fun doesn't end there! Saturday night from 8:00 PM- 11:00 PM is the Homecoming Dance hosted in the RHS gym. Students will enjoy an “Oasis of Fun” themed dance, similar to a tropical paradise with snacks and refreshments. Teacher chaperons, and police will be present as this dance will be breathalyzed. RHS is looking forward to another great Homecoming week and can’t wait to start showing our tiger pride!
