Party Like It's 1731!

It’s Carnevale in Venice, 1731, and you are invited to suspend reality and enter the fantastical world of the Palazzo Viviani (Muscoot Farm) along with a cast of colorful fictional characters for an enchanting evening where intrigue and mystery abound in what promises to be a dazzling event in support of the programs of the Westchester Oratorio Society.  On Saturday evening, March 8, 2014, the group will host a Venetian “Mystery Night,” at Muscoot Farm complete with a murder mystery, regional cuisine, music, historical Baroque dancing, and exotic roving entertainment. Modeled after a Venetian Masked Ball, period costumes and masks are welcomed.

Now in its 17th season, its seventh under the direction of Benjamin Niemczyk, Westchester Oratorio Society is currently in rehearsals for a May 4, 2014 concert with the internationally acclaimed REBEL Baroque ensemble featuring Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria.” The group rehearses on Tuesday evenings at the Katonah Village Library. Competent singers in all voices with an ability to read music are welcome to join.  For information on singing call 347 223 9303 or email WestchesterOratorio@gmail.com.

Seating is limited and based on the success of the group’s “Downton Abbey” event last year those interested in attending are advised to book early. The event begins at 5 pm (snow date March 15). Tickets are $50 per person ($150 per sponsor) and available on the Society’s website at www.westchesteroratorio.org. or by check mailed to Westchester Oratorio Society, PO Box 6, South Salem, NY 10590.  For more information e-mail WestchesterOratorio@gmail.com or call 914 763 9389. Muscoot Farm is  located at 51 Route 100, Katonah, NY 10536.
