"Living Nativity" at Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church

Watch as the Christmas story unfolds before your eyes when Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church presents its annual “Living Nativity” on Sun., Dec. 8 and Sat., Dec. 14.

All are invited to the free performances at 5:30 p.m. each night on the front steps of the church, 207 Main St., (at Branchville Road). Behold Mary and Joseph as they arrive at the stable; angels who bring tidings of great joy; shepherds keeping watch over their flock by night; and three kings bearing gifts as they traverse afar.

Directed by church member Kay Ullman, this presentation of the birth of Christ will bring meaning to the season, with angelic choirs, live animals, costumed actors and a wondrous star.

The 30-minute performances are free. Light snacks will be served afterward in the church.

Following the Dec. 14 “Living Nativity,” stay (or return later) for a special holiday concert at 7 p.m. presented by The SymphoNYChorus, a faith-based choir and orchestra based in Manhattan and whose director is Henric Ideström, Jesse Lee’s music minister. Their joyous concert, titled “One Amazing Night,” will feature favorite carols and new pieces as well.  The Jesse Lee concert will be the only Connecticut performance of their holiday show. There’s no admission fee, but an offering will be taken.
