"Spencer Eldridge, The Path of Least Resistance—Paintings One Through Twelve” will openNovember 8, 2013, and continue through November 11, 2013 in the landmark setting of the Cass Gilbert Barn at the Keeler Tavern Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut.

A reception marking both the opening of the exhibition and the barn itself will be held November 8th from 6-10 PM. Complimentary wine, food, as well as non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Children and families are welcome.

The 12 paintings in the series “The Path of Least Resistance” will be priced at a special discounted rate, with thirty percent of proceeds from the sale of art going to the Fund for renewing and restoring the Cass Gilbert Barn.

Spencer Eldridge is a resident of Ridgefield, an artist who paints abstracted landscapes en plein air (in the open air) in oils on canvas with a focus on light, shadow, and color. His paintings have hung in galleries on both coasts and in shows with artists Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg, and other notables. His works are avidly sought by many collectors in neighboring South Salem, where he teaches fine art at John Jay Middle School.

The Colonial Revival Cass Gilbert Barn, one of only a few such examples of the renowned architect’s designs, was created more than a century ago, as one of Gilbert’s first steps in making the historic Keeler Tavern property truly his own. Originally intended to house the family’s horses, carriages, and coachman, it is now being re-purposed for contemporary uses.

The Keeler Tavern Museum is a non-profit living history museum that interprets the life of Ridgefield, New England, and the nation from the Colonial period through the early 20thy century through tours with costumed interpreters, educational and cultural programs, and exhibits.
