Invitation for Personal Prayer time on the 1st Anniversary of Sandy Hook

St. Stephens’ Episcopal Church at 351 Main Street will be
open from 8 am until noon on Saturday, December 14th for quiet
prayer in remembrance of the victims of Sandy Hook, on this the first Anniversary
of this tragedy.

The following is a poem written by a St. Stephen’s parishioner.
As we remember the families and
friends affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook, we pray on their behalf:

My precious ones—I miss your
smiles and the joy that lights up your eyes,

I weep for you.

I miss your laughter and
your tears

I weep for you.

I look for you in your favorite
place, you are not there.

I weep for you.

I long to hold you in my arms, I
cannot.

I weep for you.

My precious one, I pray you know
you are loved now and forever.

Go with God,

I weep for you.

Father, keep my precious one safe
in the arms of the angels.

Grant me strength to find
happiness in my memories of yesterday and in visions of tomorrow. Bless me with
your grace that I may abide in your tender love today and always.

Grant me the power of your grace
to forgive the violence that took my precious one from me.

I pray that in your mercy you
will forgive me any bitterness that may remain in my heart.

In the memory of my precious one,
I also pray that you cleanse and reclaim the souls of those who would do harm
to any other.

For it is only in your gift of
Love that hate is defeated, through your gift of faith that fear is removed and
your gift of joy that removes all traces of anger.

Let it be so, let it be so.

In the name of Jesus Christ our
Lord and Savior. Amen.
